"...there is fixed in my mind a certain opinion of long standing, namely that there exsists a God who is able to do anything and by whom I, such as I am, have been created."
Descartes re-establishes himself from what was said in his discourse. He still does believe that a God in some form exsists, that God created mankind. He believes that God is still able to do anything. He explains that how does anyone actually know he did not create the heavnes, the earth, size, shape and places?

the existence of God is very controversial. i dont think anyone can actually prove that God created this earth, heaven, and so forth as he speaks in the discourse. the existence of God is in those who believe in him. although descartes believes that God exist and he created everything that we see, in the meditations, he doubts alot of things, including the existence of God. in discourse 5 he says that God did created heaven and so on but in the meditations he says how do we know that God created the heavens and earth. i believe descartes belief on the existence of God is just an opinion in which he is trying to prove.
Descarte is very confusing and hard to keep up with. He is very contradicting and doesnt know what to believe in. I do agree that it is controversial and that god must exist in those who believe in him.
God does exist, in my opinion, there has to be a higher being that has been around to make the things that we do take for granted.
